Few things can frustrate Internet users faster than a video that refuses to load. And that’s exactly the kind of frustration people on YouTube experienced on Wednesday when the video platform seemed to be down for people in different parts of the world.
Team YouTube confirmed at 19:23 ET that the site was not working and tweeted: “If you are having trouble watching videos on YouTube right now, you are not alone – our team is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. We will follow up on this and make any necessary updates”.

At the time of publishing this article, Down Detector was reporting small clusters of YouTube issues in New York and Toronto, among other places. Ninety-five percent of the reported problems were related to video loading, while 2 percent of users had problems with the site and 1 percent had problems uploading videos.
Over 278,000 users reported the problem in less than an hour. “An error has occurred. Please try again later,” the videos said when people tried to upload them.
Many users tweeted “Is YouTube down?”, hoping to find out why the site was not working and to find out if the site was not working on their phone or desktop.
