For local authority areas in England, the most recent weekly Covid-19 rates are available.

The Covid-19 case rates for every local authority area in England were updated on Thursday.

The figures are based on the number of patients who tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or fast lateral flow test in the seven days leading up to May 30.

The number of new cases per 100,000 individuals is how the rate is calculated.

The most recent four days’ data (May 31-June 3) were omitted because it was incomplete and did not reflect the true number of instances.

213 (68%) of England’s 315 local areas have seen an increase in rates, 91 (29%) have experienced a decrease, and 11 have remained stable.

Blackburn with Darwen, Lancashire, continues to have the highest rate, with 657 new cases reported in the seven days leading up to May 30, equating to 438.9 new cases per 100,000 persons.

This is an increase from 333.3 in the seven days leading up to May 23.

With 1,071 new cases, Bolton in Greater Manchester had the second highest rate, down from 434.7 to 372.5.

With 222 new instances, Rossendale in Lancashire has the third highest number, rising from 166.5 to 310.6.
