Cheese recall at Lidl due to dangerous bacteria.


Affected is the product “Meine Käserei Ziegenkäserolle, 100g” with the following best before dates (MHD) and lot numbers:

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety has published a recall for the ” Meine Käserei Ziegenkäserolle, 100g” of the manufacturer “Fa. JERMI Käsewerk GmbH”. Bacteria of the genus Listeria monocytogenes have been detected in the product, which can represent a serious health hazard. The cheese was sold at Lidl.

Due to possible contamination of a cheese sold at Lidl with dangerous bacteria, a recall action has been started. The cheese may contain listeria and is therefore strongly advised against consumption.

“Listeria monocytogenes has been detected in the product concerned”, which “can be the trigger for serious gastro-intestinal diseases and symptoms similar to a flu-like infection”, according to the warning on the portal of the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety. With certain groups of persons (infants, infants, pregnant women as well as old and ill humans) it can come also to serious disease courses.

The cheese was sold at Lidl Germany in all federal states except Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. “For reasons of consistent consumer protection, Lidl Germany reacted immediately and removed the affected product from sale,” the manufacturer announced. Due to the health risk the recall should be considered absolutely and the product should not be consumed under any circumstances.

Who already acquired the cheese, can this in all Lidl branches returned and the purchase price also without collecting main of the receipt is refunded, so the report of the manufacturer. Other products sold at Lidl Germany, especially other products of JERMI Käsewerk GmbH, are not affected by the recall. (fp)
