Bad Bunny, Shawn Mendes and more: Who will perform at this year’s American Music Awards?

On November 22nd, the 48th American Music Awards will take place in Los Angeles, where some of the biggest names in the music scene such as Megan Thee Stallion and Bad Bunny performed with stars.

The fan-tuned awards show will air on ABC at 8:00 p.m. ET and be broadcast from the Microsoft Theater. The show will be hosted by Empire actress Taraji P. Henson. The nominees for the awards were announced in October, with The Weeknd and Roddy Ricch receiving the most votes with eight nominations each. Each was nominated for the coveted “Artist of the Year” award. Ricch was also nominated for the “New Artist of the Year” award. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion received the second most nominations with five nominations.

On Tuesday, the AMAs announced several new artists who will perform at the awards ceremony in addition to the previously announced performers: BTS and Dua Lipa. The performers for the awards show are as follows:

Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez – “Dakiti”.

Latin Trap star Bad Bunny will perform together with up-and-coming reggaeton singer Jhay Cortez to mark the massive crossover appeal that Latin American music has seen in mainstream music in recent years.

Lil Baby – “Emotionally scarred”

The rapper from Atlanta celebrates a massive year with the premiere of his single “Emotionally Scarred” from his February album My Turn.

Megan Thee Stallion

Mendes is not the only singer with a few tricks up his sleeve. Megan Thee Stallion will make her AMA debut this year. The song she will be singing and possible comrades-in-arms have yet to be announced. With the success of “Savage” and her teamwork with Cardi B “WAP” there is plenty of room for the fans’ two favorite mega hits or a completely unexpected surprise. While it’s unclear what she has in store, an AMA’s Spotify playlist of the performers includes the Beyoncé remix of “Savage”. Although nothing is certain, a live feature of Queen Bey would be an absolute highlight for the awards ceremony.

Shawn Mendes

While the song he will perform has not yet been announced, a press release for the show announced that he will give the fans the unexpected as soon as he enters the stage. Mendes’ performance of “Señorita” in 2019 was an outstanding result of last year’s AMAs. Recently Mendes announced his next album “Wonder”, but apart from the title track and the first single he still has to release many details. Maybe he will present “Wonder” or a title of the album that is yet to be released. The AMAs Spotify playlist mentioned above contains “Wonder”.

Dua Lipa-“Levitating”

The British pop star was announced as an actress when she announced the nominations for this year’s show. It is expected that she will perform “Levitating” from her album Future Nostalgia.

BTS-“Dynamite” and “Life goes on

According to Billboard, the K-Pop sensations will perform both their first English-language single “Dynamite” and the yet unreleased song “Life Goes On” from their upcoming album Be.

Fans can vote for their favorite artists on the Billboard website to win AMAs.
