Woman injured in accident sends car crashing into lamppost


Emergency services were called to the intersection of Ashover Avenue and East Prescot Road at about 2:30 pm on Thursday.

An injured woman was injured when a vehicle in Page Moss crashed into a lamppost in a two-car accident.

Police, fire department and ambulance were called to the scene of the accident.

Road blocks were quickly set up at the accident site where paramedics were seen checking the people involved in the accident.

One of the cars was then seen crashing into a nearby lamppost.

Police, fire department and paramedics were all present after the Volkswagen and Citroen had collided.

Both vehicles have since been recovered from the scene of the accident, and the road was reopened at about 4:15 p.m.

A woman in her early 50s was taken to hospital after the collision with minor injuries, according to the North West Ambulance Service.

Traffic detour were set up while the emergency services responded to the incident.

Pictures taken at the scene of the accident show both cars with significant damage and the damage caused to the lamppost.

Witnesses described him as slightly knocked over and said he leaned over when the car was recovered.
