Emergency services were called to Lunt Road, Sefton, near the Punchbowl pub at around 8.45am on Sunday, after it was reported that a female cyclist had been found on the road, seriously injured in the 1930s.
A cyclist who was knocked off her bike yesterday morning is still in critical condition in hospital.
A 23-year-old woman was arrested and released as part of an investigation.
The police announced yesterday that the investigation at the crime scene was still ongoing and roadblocks remained in place.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance and is currently described as being in a critical but stable condition. Her family has been made aware of this and is supported by officials.
It was reported that she was hit by a vehicle that did not stop at the scene.
