Why Did Lisa Vanderpump Name Her Restaurant SUR on ‘Vanderpump Rules’?
Lisa Vanderpump’s signature restaurant SUR stands for “Sexy Unique Restaurant,” as fans of Vanderpump Rules know, but how did she come up with the name?
When Bravo asked several cast members about the name’s roots, several had no idea how the nickname came to be the restaurant’s face. In a Bravo digital original, Katie Maloney- Schwartz said, “It’s a sexy restaurant, but I don’t know if it’s… well, it’s special too.” Lisa Vanderpump, the restaurant’s owner, explained why she chose the name SUR.
Lisa Vanderpump revealed that SUR had a name.
Though Vanderpump is credited with the name “Sexy Unique Restaurant,” the restaurant was originally known as SUR. She said, “A lot of people have asked me, you know, what the name SUR means.” “It had a reputation before I got involved with it when it was just a tiny restaurant,” she says. It also means “south” in Spanish. Sexy Exclusive Restaurant, we ended up putting it on the walls.”
Along with Vanderpump and her husband Ken Todd, Guillermo Zapata and his wife Nathalie Pouille-Zapata became co-owners. That’s when Vanderpump injected her personality into the restaurant, from the decor to the menu to the name.

When Vanderpump was still on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she started working on the restaurant. It was a stroke of luck when the premises next door to SUR became empty, as you can see on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, who were following my story,” Vanderpump shared on the SUR website.
“Just by having a greenhouse, the height of the vaulted ceilings, and the fact that it had a garden, I realized I could make something special, sexy, and with huge potential.” This is a condensed version of the plot. I hope you found it entertaining.
