Vivica A. Fox Discusses Whitney Houston’s Friendship

Whitney Houston was a mentor and a friend to many people. Jenifer Lewis, star of Blackish, often focuses on her years-long relationship with Houston. Now, Vivica A. Fox is opening up about her own fond memories of the late artist.

Bobby Brown introduced Vivica A. Fox to Whitney Houston.

Fox starred in the romantic comedy Two Can Play The Game, which was released in 2001. Shante Smith, a successful woman who gives advice on how to hold a man in line, stars in the film. When Smith’s own boyfriend tries to stray and plays hard to get, her principles are tested.

Morris Chestnut, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Mo’Nique, Anthony Anderson, and Bobby Brown star alongside Fox in the film. Brown plays a man who, due to his own flaws, finds it difficult to commit to his long-term girlfriend.

While working on the script, Fox and Houston met through Brown. Fox announced in a recent interview with Vlad TV that Houston had asked her to be Bobby’s lookout.

Fox, who was fighting back tears as she spoke about her late friend Bobby Brown, said, “I was her lookout for Bobby Brown.” “We grew to be great friends. Bobby had to be on time, polite, and respectful, and she wanted to make sure he was. ‘Was he on time?’ she would inquire. ‘Did he know what he was saying?’

The actor recalls his good times with the legendary singer.

During and after the film, the two kept in touch. One evening after filming, Fox remembers hanging out with Houston for the first time.

“She called and asked, ‘Are you still working?’ I told her, ‘No, I got off early.’ ‘Come hang out with me,’ she said. ‘Well, where are you, girl?’ I asked. “She says, ‘I’m at the Bel-Air Hotel,'” Fox remembers.

Fox decided to meet Houston only reluctantly because she felt she was underdressed for such an occasion. Houston, on the other hand, insisted on having Fox join her for an evening of fun, and she, too, was dressed casually. When Fox arrived at the hotel and saw Houston dressed in a fur coat, he was taken aback.

Fox claims she was wearing a $150,000 fur coat. “When I got out of the car, the first thing I said was, ‘That’s your casual?’ ‘Yeah, that’s my casual!’ she says. However, she was wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt underneath.”

Before the hotel bar closed, the two had a drink there. Fox intended to return home because he had to be at work early the next morning, but Houston insisted on staying a little longer. They returned to Houston’s hotel room and played a spades game.

Vivica A. Fox’s reaction to the news of Whitney Houston’s death

Houston died one night before the Grammy Awards on February 11, 2012. On the night of her death, she was supposed to attend Clive Davis’ annual Pre-Grammy picnic.

Fox claims she found out about Houston’s death while walking the red carpet. She said, “I literally collapsed.” “I was doing an event in Memphis, Tennessee, and my friend came over and said, ‘Whitney just died,’” Fox remembers.

Fox claims she was taken aback, particularly given the circumstances of the iconic singer’s visit to Los Angeles for Grammy weekend.

Houston is a place she remembers fondly. Fox went on to play Houston’s manager and sister-in-law, Pat Houston, in a Lifetime television movie about her life.
