Hello, sibling. Do you want a cocktail? Brother’s Bond, the bourbon created by Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, will transport you to the world of The Vampire Diaries. Not only because the actors are reuniting, but also because they created a signature cocktail based on Damon and Stefan Salvatore’s characters.

What is the difference between Brother’s Bond and other bourbons?

Wesley and Somerhalder’s imaginative lovechild is Brother’s Bond. They formed a close bond when portraying the Salvatore brothers on The Vampire Diaries for eight seasons. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they agreed it was past time for them to collaborate once more. Their bourbon brand was born as a result.

It’s an appropriate business venture. Throughout the eight seasons of The CW’s show, Damon and Stefan were both drinking bourbon. Of course, they weren’t drinking while they were filming. The iced tea that straight bourbon fans watched them drink was actually bourbon. Wesley announced in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that in season 2, they had to turn to decaffeinated iced tea.

Wesley explained, “I couldn’t sleep for the whole first season.” “I was jittery and apprehensive. It turned out that I was simply overdoing it on caffeine. “Man, I was freaking out.”

Making bourbon is an appropriate tribute to their characters. According to the Brother’s Bond website:

“While drinking whiskey, the bonds of our friendship grew stronger.

We’d imagined making our own bourbon and how we wanted it to taste for years. It would be easy to drink and smooth on the tongue, we said. It would be like a big warm embrace of robust flavors with subtle nutty spice notes that lead to a complex, warming finish; the ideal bourbon experience. We imagined our bourbon being served neat and tasting fantastic. With Brother’s Bond Bourbon, we were able to realize our dreams after years of research.”

There’s also an environmental activism branch of the business.

Paul Wesley of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ believes this was the show’s’most significant’ relationship.

Their brand wouldn’t be full without Damon and Stefan’s favorite cocktails. The website’s recipe section lists 13 different drinks that all use Brother’s Bond. And a few of them are shout-outs to the show that catapulted them to fame.

The Blood Brothers cocktail is one of their favourites. As Somerhalder told Entertainment Weekly:

“Blood Brothers is our take on a classic whiskey sour,” says the brewer. And the reason whiskey sours have been famous for over a century is because a) they’re delicious. Typically, bourbon is much better than ours, and this helps to even things out. The bourbon’s woodiness is nicely counterbalanced by the citrus and sweetness. On top of that, we want to pour Port wine. What’s amazing is that the wine just comes down and makes this and gives it this incredible flavor.”

To make the cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients: 1.5 ounces Brother’s Bond Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 0.75 ounces of lemon juice, 0.75 ounces of simple syrup, and 0.75 ounces of Port wine.

To make it, measure the bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a jigger and pour into a shaker. Add ice, and then shake for 15 seconds. Strain the drink into a lowball glass with ice. Finally, measure the Port in the jigger and pour it into the drink. Let the Port float on top, and it will eventually drip down into the drink to give it a more blood-like color. Damon and Stefan would approve.

Somerhalder and Wesley’s other Vampire Diaries-inspired cocktails include the Mystic Charmer (an ode to the Mystic Grill) and the Brother’s Fashioned (a classic old fashioned inspired by the vampire brothers. As always, drink responsibly.
