Nene Leakes, a former member of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, compares herself to Beyoncé following her departure from the show.
The former OG of the franchise agrees with viewers who say RHOA is uninteresting without Nene Leakes. Leakes famously left the program before the 13th season began, claiming that Bravo had treated her unfairly and discriminated against her. She claims she hasn’t watched the show since she left, but she thinks the little coverage she has seen has been disappointing. It’s difficult to keep the momentum going without the show’s star, according to Leakes, who compares her departure to Beyoncé leaving Destiny’s Child.
Nene Leakes claims to be the ‘RHOA’ Beyoncé.
Leakes recently sat down with Jason Lee of Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored to talk about the Real Housewives of Orange County and more. When asked if she feels validated by viewers who gripe that the show isn’t as spunky without her, Leakes says she understands. She also claims that she is the driving force behind the show’s success.
“I believe it is quite tough to walk to the burger joint down the block and expect a happy meal,” she says. “I mean, McDonald’s was the first to introduce the happy meal. So, in a wonderful manner, it’s really difficult to go somewhere and think you can replace the shoes of someone who founded something.”
Nene Leakes accuses her former management team of collaborating with Bravo in order to blackball her.
She went even further, equating her departure to Beyoncé’s departure from Destiny’s Child.
“In other words, it’s sort of impossible to have Destiny’s Child without Beyoncé and still think you’ve got Destiny’s Child,” she says. “You know what I mean? It’s kind of difficult to accomplish that.” It’s like saying, ‘I want Beyoncé.'”
The former ‘RHOA’ star teases that she’s working on her own reality show while balancing her other commitments.
Leakes has also expressed her dissatisfaction with Bravo’s lack of interest in developing a spinoff series. With the exception of 2013, she hasn’t had a good year… This is a condensed version of the narrative. I hope you found it entertaining.
