‘NCIS: Hawaii’: All you need to know about main actress Jane Tennant

0

NCIS is considered one of the most popular and powerful series on television. It is a successful series from which several spinoffs have been developed. According to rumors, another NCIS spinoff is in the works, but it would change the franchise in a very radical but positive way. Let’s take a closer look at what we know about the rumored NCIS: Hawaii spinoff in development and what we know about the rumored lead: Jane Tennant.

What are the “NCIS” series about?

The NCIS series family centers around a unit known as the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. According to the official CBS website for the series, the original version focused on Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Gibbs (Mark Harmon), once serving as a Marine gunnery sergeant. He also has a larger team behind him, each with a specific role (and a dynamic personality to boot) that helps them stand out as part of the team. All NCIS series stick to this format in one way or another – what changes is the presentation, execution and characters.

The current state of the “NCIS” franchise.

NCIS: Hawaii” and “Hawaii Five-O” may not be in the same universe

There are three NCIS series currently in production. Each of them follows the same procedural format. Where they differ is the setting of each series and the characters that appear in them. The different lead actors bring a unique touch to each component of the franchise. The current NCIS series are:

NCIS. This is the original. It is still led by Harmon, although the cast around him has changed somewhat over the years. This series has been the flagship series and is still going strong after many years on CBS.
NCIS: Los Angeles. Co-starring Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J, this edition of NCIS takes place on the West Coast.
NCIS: New Orleans. Starring former “Quantum Leap” star Scott Bakula, this wing of the NCIS franchise will wrap up this year.

Much like CSI on CBS before it or Law and Order on NBC, the formula for these shows is simple: new investigations for each episode with engaging characters that keep fans of the shows excited as they happen. Given the popularity of the franchise, it makes sense that they would make another attempt to expand. But this new rumored spinoff will come with a groundbreaking twist.

Everything you need to know about “NCIS: Hawaii” lead actress Jane Tennant.

An unconfirmed report from TV Line says that CBS will launch a spinoff called NCIS: Hawaii. This series will be the first NCIS series to revolve around a female lead. The rumored name of the new leading lady is Jane Tennant.

What do we know about Tennant so far? Vanessa Lachey has been cast in the role. According to Variety, Tennant is “as diplomatic as she is tough,” and as “a woman in a male-dominated profession, she has thrived in a system that has pushed her back every step of the way with equal parts confidence and strategy.”

In addition, Tennant will be a single mother juggling her family and her career. Variety reports, “She’s a mother raising her children largely on her own. Like any parent who loves her career and her family, she’s a master juggler – balancing duty to her children and her country.”

This is the first time an NCIS series has had a woman in the lead role, which is a big hurdle to overcome. It should also be interesting to see the series set in the gorgeous backdrop of Hawaii. The new setting will give the series a much more tropical look and feel than the other versions.

Although this would be the first NCIS with a woman as the sole lead, it is not the first time a woman has appeared as a co-lead. According to IMDb, this would be an NCIS spinoff called NCIS: Red that never came to fruition. The 2013 pilot, which was rolled up into an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, starred John Corbett and Kim Raver.

Will this series have the same success as its predecessors? It’s too early to tell, and it largely depends on who they cast as Jane Tennant. If the producers are able to attract a compelling, versatile actor to play the role, the series has a great chance of building a consistent audience.
