Marvel Studios’ Worst-Kept Secret On How It Treats Its Characters Has Just Been Verified by Dave Bautista.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 fans are eagerly awaiting news on James Gunn’s motley crew. However, star Dave Bautista may have unintentionally dampened the anticipation by announcing that the forthcoming film would be his last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the meantime, Bautista revealed the worst-kept secret about Marvel’s character management.
Dave Bautista’s career spans well beyond Marvel Studios.
When Guardians of the Galaxy first aired in 2014, Bautista had no screen experience. The former wrestler made cameo appearances in films including The Man with the Iron Fists and Riddick. However, as Drax the Destroyer, he displayed deft comedic timing and a range that few in the audience predicted. Obviously, he became a fan favorite.
Since then, though, a lot has changed. Bautista has also appeared in a number of other big-budget films, including Spectre and Blade Runner 2049, in which he played a supporting role. And he’s proven himself as a competent leading man in films like Stuber and My Spy. Bautista seems to be able to leave the MCU now that he’s completed another lead role in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead.

Bautista revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be his last Marvel film during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I didn’t expect it to make the news because I thought everybody knew how things worked. We work in trilogy format, and James Gunn has already confirmed… This is a condensed version of the plot. I hope you found it entertaining.
