The last chapter of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” was not only an emotional roller coaster for the Kardashian-Jenners, but also for the fans.
On the episode titled “The End of an Era,” Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian West, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian grapple with the decision to end KUWTK after 20 seasons. Although most of them agreed that pulling the plug was the right thing to do, coming to terms with the decision still proved to be no easy feat.
End of series was not a unanimous decision
The seventh episode of the final season of KUWTK aired on E! on May 6.
That episode began with the Kardashian-Jenners having a family meeting to discuss whether to renew their contract with E! in a “multi-year, multi-hour deal” or simply end KUWTK for good.
“This is a big day for me and my family because we’re going to discuss whether or not we want to continue filming Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” the Kardashian matriarch explained in a confessional. “We’re filming it on our iPhones because we don’t want the crew filming it and them hearing the conversation, but at the same time we wanted to document it because it’s an important day.”
Whereas Kourtney Kardashian thinks it’s “definitely time” to close this chapter in her life and move on, Kim Kardashian West agrees, noting that “so many factors” have complicated filming lately.
On the other hand, Kris Jenner is considering whether it’s best to quit the show, as it’s the “biggest blessing” for the family and the “foundation” for everything else they do.
Khloé Kardashian, meanwhile, wants to stick with KUWTK a little longer and isn’t sure if she should end the series.
“I think it’s like everyone wishes it could be less. Do I think we all need a break sometimes? Yes, but I don’t know if that necessarily means we should stop,” she says during the episode.
In the end “All those in favor, say ‘Aye.'”
“Aye,” say Kim and Kourtney – before Khloé hesitates and eventually agrees with the rest of the family.
“Majority rules,” the Good American founder said. “Aye.”
Later, in a confessional, she recounts, “Having to tell everyone, ‘OK, now this is all going to end,’ it’s just, it’s really devastating. I hate this year so much.”
The Kardashian-Jenners are close to tears as they break the ‘devastating’ news to the ‘KUWTK’ crew
After agreeing to end ‘KUWTK,’ the Kardashian-Jenners gather outside with their production crew to break the news.
“There’s no easy way to say this except to just say it because we love you all so much, and it’s almost like ripping off a Band-Aid,” the momager says as she holds back tears. “We just wanted to tell you in person that we’re not going to continue filming the show. It was a really unbearable decision to make. This trip has been the most incredible thing we’ve ever done and we can’t even express the appreciation we have for you guys along the way.”

Each of the Kardashian sisters then came forward to express their gratitude for the crew.
“I hope you guys feel respected and appreciated because even though we don’t say it, I consider you guys my second family. I know we’re all really grateful,” Khloé said. “When she’s happy, she’s happy, but when people are there for you when life is f*cking sucks, that’s what matters.”
The scene is unbearably sad, as cameras caught not only the Kar-Jenners but also members of the crew in tears over the heartbreaking decision.
The Kardashians plan to end ‘KUWTK’ with a bang
After sharing their decision with the production crew, the Kardashian-Jenners reveal to their friends and family that they will end “KUWTK” before the news is announced to the world.
From Kardashian West’s best friend Jonathan Cheban to Caitlyn Jenner, the famous squad informs their loved ones about their decision, which surprised most of them.
