Despite the fact that Lucille Ball and Katy Perry are two very different celebrities, Perry has been compared to Ball. Perry had to deal with this contrast on many occasions. Here’s what she had to say about the redhead TV star’s relationship to her own job.
Katy Perry is said to be a mix of Lucille Ball and another actress.
At first glance, a contrast between Ball and Perry can seem strange. Ball, after all, wasn’t much of a singer (though she did play the saxophone on I Love Lucy), and she wasn’t known for Perry’s cheeky sexuality. Perry, like Ball in her prime, has often inserted campy humor into her work.
Jazmin Whitley of The Star Scoop asked Perry to explain her sound in a January 2008 interview. Perry said, “Someone kind of penned it for me the other day, and I’ve been using it ever since.” Other artists, according to Perry, did not want to talk about their idols. Perry, on the other hand, had no qualms about doing it because she wanted to make people understand how she spoke. She pointed out that she was not even a household name.

Perry then went on to talk about a couple of artists, one of whom was not a singer. “Someone said I was like a mixture of Lucille Ball and Freddie Mercury, and I have that Lucille Ball thing about me where everything looks really great on the outside, rocking that 1940s look, but on the inside there’s just something just kind of wrong about me,” Perry said. “The Freddie Mercury, which I pale in comparison to, obviously. He is pretty much my biggest influence/idol. He’s very theatrical and boisterous and he always said what he thought and really didn’t give a f*ck what anybody thought about when he walked… This story is a short summary. Hope you enjoyed.
