Reboots of beloved TV shows have always been around. Lately, however, revivals of 1990s and 2000s shows are generating some serious buzz among fans. Understandably, some of the biggest buzz seems to surround HBO’s recently announced And Just Like That…, a return of the classic Sex and the City. Revisiting Carrie and friends in New York has long been a hot topic among fans of the 1998 film, one of the most beloved TV hits of its period.
‘Sex and the City’ revival confirmed
In January, Sarah Jessica Parker announced a Sex and the City reboot on Instagram. Later information reported that the latest limited series will be named And Just Like That… and that it will concentrate on Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda’s adventures in the Big Apple in their 50s.

3 Things Fans Want To See in the Recently Announced Sex and the City Reboot, And Just Like That
Three of the original stars are expected to return, but Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones character is notably absent. Cattrall has consistently said she’s finished playing Samantha and has gone on with her career. But fans believe the cause has more to do with her notorious rivalry with Parker. Cattrall seems to be content to postpone the reboot, at least publicly. Parker has also been professional and respectful in his public comments about Samantha’s absence, stating that the character “isn’t a part of this story.”
Nearly everybody seems to be ready to return.
The Three Worst Supporting Characters in Sex and the City
One by one, the original show’s stars have confirmed they’ll join the new limited series to reprise their roles. Fans have been overjoyed to see many former cast members immediately express excitement and support. The series was a cultural force in its time, and everyone wants a great reboot that preserves the original’s legacy.
Since the launch, stars other than the three leads have shown interest. Asked about appearing in the revival, Jennifer Hudson said, “I am down. I have fallen!” According to Us Weekly.
Justin Theroux, who guest-starred as two characters in the original series, has also shown interest in returning. Whether reprising his Season 1 role of Jared, Season 2’s Vaughn, or a new role, Theroux appears ecstatic to be returning to the set.

Did Selena Gomez Really Date Justin Theroux? Why Her New Interview With Jennifer Aniston Suggests Otherwise
Justin Theroux recently said of the revival, “Of course I would love to. If they wanted to have me, I’d do Sex and the City again,” People reported. He also discussed the show’s iconic status, saying, “It’s sort of like a rite of passage, I think, in New York, at the time, when you’re a younger actor, to do Sex and the City.”
Although Theroux is no longer a young actor attempting to establish himself, it’s still exciting to learn he’s interested in the new show. Though he is perhaps best known as Jennifer Aniston’s ex-husband, he has a lengthy list of achievements since Sex and the City. Theroux has come a long way from his late-’90s television guest appearances, amassing a slew of acting, directing, and producing credits. He’s also contributed writing to films like Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2.
Sex and the City was a smash success in its day and has since become a priceless time capsule in late-nineties and early-nineties urban history. It’s reassuring to learn that the revival will not be a remake or reimagining of the classic first season, and fans hope the new series can expand on the roots of the original.
With the caliber of talent it has already attracted, there seems to be a fair possibility that And Just Like That… would be as good as the original and provide an engaging and timely glimpse of New York society in the 2020s, just as the original did decades ago.
