The NCIS: New Orleans series finale aired last night, finally bringing the franchise’s New Orleans branch to a close. The episode attempted to give viewers a happy ending by tying up years of loose ends. However, the finale ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. Is this a sign that the show would be able to continue any of its storylines?

It was revealed earlier this year that NCIS: New Orleans will not be renewed for a ninth season. Jan Nash and Chris Silber, the show’s executive producers, were shocked to learn that the show would not be renewed.
Nash told Entertainment Tonight, “I was deeply shocked and disappointed when the network announced that the show would not be returning for season 8.” “Chris is absolutely right. When you’re 150 episodes into something, there’s always the chance that you’ll hit the end of that extremely long run. But we were so busy filming the show under these strange circumstances that I didn’t give it much thought.”
Despite the short notice, Silber and Nash were able to have a happy ending for the fans.
