Here’s the Episode Where Phil Dunphy Bought His Beloved Alpaca on ‘Modern Family’
Phil Dunphy was a little weird and eccentric, but his family adored him for it. This character surprised his wife, Claire, and his three children on two occasions by purchasing an alpaca.
Here’s what we know about Jolene the alpaca from ABC’s Modern Family comedy series.
During the ‘Modern Family’ episode ‘After the Fire,’ Phil got his first alpaca.
The Duphys were terribly concerned when a neighbor’s house burned down. As a result, the entire extended family stepped in to assist them in regaining their footing. At the same time, Phil received an exciting call from two of his office’s real estate agents who were starting their own firm.
Phil’s coworkers pushed him to join them because of the higher compensation, but it was also a tremendous long-term risk. When the character learned of this, he went to his businessman father-in-law, Jay Pritchett, for advice.
Phil admitted to the audience that he didn’t always make the best decisions under duress. The series then turned to a flashback scene with Phil and Claire. Claire was taken aback when Phil brought an alpaca into the house.
“Oh, my God!” exclaimed the speaker. Claire inquired, “What the hell is that?”
Phil smiled as he continued, “An alpaca.” “I bought the final one,” says the narrator.

Phil decided to do something while attempting to be completely “in charge” of his life… This is a condensed version of the narrative. I hope you found it entertaining.
