From The Beatles to Pavement, John Mulaney and Anna Marie Tendler reveal the music they listen to when they’re feeling down.
John Mulaney’s wife Anna Marie Tendler recently posted a new photo taken as George Harrison’s solo album “All Things Must Pass,” in which she continues to express her pain and sorrow through her art.
The couple, who recently declared their intention to divorce, are both music fans who have exchanged musical influences through difficult times. Mulaney made his comments after the 2016 election, when he revealed the song he listened to when he was at his lowest. Tendler drew inspiration for her speech from George Harrison’s song “It’s a Pity.”
To express herself, Anna Marie Tendler chooses a George Harrison tune.
Tendler recreated the album cover for “All Things Must Pass,” but instead of eerie, chilled-out gnomes, she surrounded herself with four sleek faux deer. She, like Harrison, is sitting in the midst of the deer in a large yard – the cover is very close to Harrison’s.
She captioned the photo with the song “Isn’t it a Pity,” which is about heartbreak, sorrow, and loneliness. In addition, one poster added lyrics to the message. “It’s a shame, isn’t it? Isn’t it a pity? We have a way of breaking each other’s hearts. And they hurt each other. What we do for each other’s affection. Without even thinking about it. Forgetting to return the favor. Isn’t it a shame?”
