Elisabeth Moss believes June’s “connection” with Nick is more unique than her relationship with Luke in “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
In literature, the love triangle theme is often overused or clichéd. The romantic storylines in The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu, on the other hand, serve a greater function. June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) is caught in a love triangle with her Gilead boyfriend, Nick Blaine (Max Minghella), and her husband, Luke Bankole, in The Handmaid’s Tale (O-T Fagbenle).
The romantic scenes in The Handmaid’s Tale not only provide a welcome break for viewers, but they also reveal an intriguing dichotomy in June’s development as a character. June’s past life as a conventional woman and mother is reflected in Luke, while June’s transformation into a soldier and rebellion leader is reflected in Nick.
As Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale progresses, it appears that June will be forced to choose between Nick and Luke. Although Moss refuses to reveal what happens, she does acknowledge that June and Nick’s relationship is special.

Elisabeth Moss once declined to choose between her two co-stars in “The Handmaid’s Story.”
After the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale premiered on Hulu, several cast members sat down with Rotten Tomatoes for an interview. The actors were asked if they were on Team Luke or Team Nick during the interview.
Moss is a writer and director on the show in addition to playing the lead role. She revealed to Rotten Tomatoes that she has a theory of how the love triangle will end.
“I say, take a look. As a producer, I have an idea of where I think it should go, but that is in no way a criticism of any of these gentlemen,” Moss explained.
Moss declined to choose between Nick and Luke because of her association with The Handmaid’s Story.
“As their mate, coworker, and sometimes boss, I don’t have the freedom to choose,” she explained.
