Reflecting on the end of 2020, the “Voice” coach expressed her excitement for the year ahead in a PEOPLE-exclusive interview clip ahead of Amazon Prime Video’s comedy special “Yearly Departed.”
“ was too much for everybody,” said Aguilera in the clip. “Let’s say goodbye to that, let’s make our peace and move on … I’m very excited to shed old skins, to leave old ways. I think we’ve all taken a second and thought about what serves us [and]what doesn’t, so we can move forward in our future and try to overcome 2020 on many levels.”
Continuing, she said, “All the moments I’ve had to pause and reflect and stop the clock to embrace all the positivity and look at what maybe doesn’t feel good and what doesn’t serve you and make changes for the better. I hope to take that positivity into the next year, hopefully with everything in the world aligning on a more positive, hopeful note.”
In 2020, the Reflections singer also gushed about the “quality family time” she was able to spend with her longtime partner Matthew Rutler, her daughter Summer Rain, 6, and her son Max Liron, 12 (whom she shares with ex-husband Jordan Bratman).
“I was traveling between Europe and Vegas for a year before that, so it was nice for me to take a reflective break and moment and take it all in on a personal level as a mom and as an artist and be able to get creative and make positive changes for my future,” Aguilera shared.
