Charlie Hunnam may not be ready for the MCU yet, but Warner Bros. is reportedly eyeing the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ star for a new franchise.
Charlie Hunnam’s seven-year stint on Sons of Anarchy came to an end in 2014. Since then, he’s been mentioned in connection with a number of notable film franchises. Most notably, he has apparently been offered multiple times to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, the actor has thus far declined to sign the contract. According to a new report, Warner Bros. is ‘eying’ the Brit for a new franchise.
The actor Charlie Hunnam was believed to be in the film ‘Eternals.’
Following the announcement of Marvel’s Phase 4 picture schedule, reports began to circulate that the studio was interested in casting Hunnam in Eternals. Hunnam was only available to shoot for a few days, according to sources, according to Cheat Sheet at the time. As a result, his appearance was expected to be brief.
Hunnam, on the other hand, was not on the Eternals cast list when it was announced in 2019. Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani feature in the picture.
The alum of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ did try out for ‘Thor.’
Hunnam was considered for the starring role in Marvel’s Thor in 2009. He was said to be in discussion to play the demigod and even went through a screen test.
“Hunnam didn’t know what the status of the casting was, but indicated his folks had been talking to Marvel,” a source stated at the time. “He believes that since Marvel pushed Thor’s release date back a few months, the company is taking its time to make the best option for the film.”
When Charlie Hunnam was told he didn’t receive the part, he “breathed a sigh of relief.”
Hunnam later confirmed that he had met with Kenneth Branagh seven times. But he received the idea from Branagh that if he cast Hunnam in the film, he was “settling” on him. This is a condensed version of the narrative. I hope you found it entertaining.
