Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) is a guitarist in the band Fountains of Wayne. COVID-19 complications cause death

Adam Schlesinger, one of his generation’s most well-known songwriters, died on April 1 from complications caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Sadie and Claire Schlesinger, his two children, survive him at the age of 52.

What is Adam Schlesinger’s background?

Schlesinger was best known for being a member of the Fountains of Wayne collective. The album “Stacy’s Mom” by the alternative pop band from the 1990s reached the top of the charts in 2003.

Between 1996 and 2001, Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood released five studio albums as Fountains of Wayne. Their most well-known album, Welcome Interstate Managers, from 2003, is the one that gave the world “Stacy’s Mom.”

Outside of the alt-pop band, Schlesinger had a lot of success. He was also a member of Ivy and Fever High, a synth-pop band. Schlesinger was also a member of Tinted Windows, a short-lived supergroup that included Hanson’s Taylor Hanson, Cheap Trick’s Bun E. Carlos, and The Smashing Pumpkins’ James Iha.

Schlesinger also penned screenplays for films and television shows.

Schlesinger composed the title track for Tom Hanks’ film The Thing You Do!, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. Schlesinger also composed the score for Josie and the Pussycats.

Schlesinger co-wrote songs for the Broadway musical Cry-Baby in 2008 with David Javerbaum. For A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!, the pair was nominated for two Tony Awards and won a Grammy.

Schlesinger was also nominated for ten Emmys for composing satirical songs for a variety of TV shows, including The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

He received three Emmys during his career.

COVID-19 complications killed Adam Schlesinger.

Schlesinger died in a hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Wednesday morning. Schlesinger’s lawyer, Josh Grier, told The Associated Press that it’s unclear when or how he got the virus. In the days leading up to his death, Schlesinger had been sedated and put on a ventilator… This is a condensed version of the plot. I hope you found it entertaining.
